Golatta would now have to be the next great white hope.2 years ago I
thought Tommy Morrison was destined to be a future champ but his glass
jaw couldn't handle the big time.
Golatta took some good shots and didn't seem to put out,so perhaps he
could be the next white champ.
The only thing negitive against him is his age (28) and his
discipline.

Hey, since when does jail preclude one from being a champion?

Welll - my guess is that if Golota is in jail he won't be able to fight.
Someone please correct me if I have my facts screwed up.  };->

Why his age? Heavyweights mature later than the other weight
categories.

I guess what I meant was "jail record", sorry for not being more clear.

His age is perfect for a heavyweight. Remember, the big guys
mature later. Consider -- Golota has 20 years on Foreman.

Does the phrase "Hurricane Carter from Rahway State Prison in NJ" mean
anything to you? :)

Didn't James Scott (lt. heavy, late '70's) get to fight while in prison?

Well, I for one don't want to see any more Boxer's who are in prison
fighting in the ring. Boxing is getting a bad enough reputation because
of thugs and people who brake our laws. What do you think that all of
this is telling our kids??? We need some good clean fighter's in the
Boxing game now just to save the sport. Not fighters who have wants and
warrents on them.

Golota was saught by the police in Poland for a bar fight (no robbery involved).
Since Polish police have no jurisdiction in the US, Golota will see no jail time.  If
Golota were to win a championship, you would see how quickly he would be pardonned in
order to return to Poland for a hero's parade.

The term 'Great White Hope', while being a part of boxing history, is also
racist terminology brought about by caucasians' lack of acceptance of
having Jack Johnson, an African-American, as the heavyweight champion of
the world.  To perpetuate the search for the latest 'Great White Hope' is
also a way of perpetuating racist tendencies.

Hopefully one day, the world's population will use skin color only for
reasons of describing someone in the same way we might describe someone
as, "That tall guy over there with the ruddy complexion, blond hair, and
blue hat."

Please don't perpetuate a racist term.

P.S. BTW, 28 years old is not old for a heavyweight in Golota's position.

He sure did.  Talk about a hometown crowd.  He looked real good until he
met this short guy named Dwight Braxton (if memory serves me well).

>Sanity-

I don't think he ever fought Braxton(who became Qawi),I do know he
lost a tough 10 round decision to a similar fighter by the name of
Jerry "The Bull" Martin on NBC.After that loss they quit going to
Rahway to cover his fights, and it effectively eliminated Scott as a
 force in the LH division.
