It is arguable that Marciano's toughest fight was the first fight against
Roland LaStarza which ended in a very close split decision win for Rocky.
After Rocky won the title he gave LaStarza a shot at it, and beat the
snot out of him for a KO 11.

Even in the La Starza fight, Marciano was never hurt or out gunned. He
may have been out foxed a bit. And the next fight showed it.

And when Marciano kept coming at him, the shear weight of never giving
up impacted Charles to the point that he was knocked out in their
return match. Charles did everything but hit Marciano with a sledge
hammer and it didn't faze Marciano one bit.
