Huge success. LOTS of gamblers, lots of action. Got beat as usual. Local
compadres, PAul Laplace, Steve Brunis finished higher but not in the money.
Local star, Robert (Alongapo Bob) Bajao was still in the winners bracket
with down to 32. Am still tired. 6-7 hour drive but worth it. NON-STOP
action and good competition. Would go again. You will see players you have
NEVER seen before. CHEAP.
Yeah, you did have to be careful of the local banditos but Harold the owner
of The Rack, had security working outside of the pool hall in the FRIGID
cold. It must have been close to 31 . I hit one 6 foot patch of ice on
the highway.
One quick story:
The TexArkana contingency sent a troll into our midst who flashed a bankroll
and barked quite a lot. (Bobby Earl or some other name-young, loud,
obnoxious) I figured enough time had passed and I had been asked so many
times to gamble (and said no because I didn't know anyone) so I asked if he
wanted to play a little race to 9 for 100. He QUICKLY accepted and
commenced to beating on me like I couldn't make a ball. He wins the first
set and he couldn't believe his luck and smiled when I reached for the coin
to flip again. He got out the gate again 5-2 but I came back to win the set
9-6. The recon player said he was tired. The actual guy staking the match
approached me smiling like a coiled rattlesnake and said that he "just like
action" and he has a friend who will play me a set for the same stakes. I
ask who and he tells me. I say no. He then says what about Joey XXX I say
who is that. He points out a black fellow and I say no. He then says look,
let's keep this going, how about so and so and I say who and he points out a
white fellow and I say no. He then says "come on man", show some gamble
and I said you mean like you did with that horse that pulled up lame. The
"tired" pool player then announces that he would play me some banks because
that doesn't take as much energy to play. They were tenacious I must say.
I didn't play any more after that. If those guys quit after someone gets
even, it shows that those people from Tex-Arkana have absolutely no gamble.
There was plenty of other action. Little John, Hennessey (what a player)
Reid Pierce, Tony Fargo. Too tired to type any more...........Little John
is playing well.
