Are any RSBers going to this tournament?  It has been talked about in our
area from many players for a long time.  I have never gone but am thinking
seriously about making the trip.

The particulars are :
The Rack
Lamar Avenue
Memphis TN

Nine Ball
Bar Tables
Race to 7

NO GREEN FEE
NO QUARTERS

$25 entree fee.

9 foot tables available for ACTION and that is CAPITAL ACTION all the way.

This tournament sells out EVERY YEAR.  128 spots are taken EVERY YEAR.

How can you not play for $25?  You might get to play James Walden, Bobby
Pickle, Hennessey, Bullard, Townsend, Bullard or Parica and you might beat
one of them in the short race.

Don't like your odds on winning the tournament?  Then come jump in the
'grease".  The fying pan is hot and there are more fish around than in
Louisianas Coastal waters.  Action is hot for amateurs and professionals
alike.
Friday night will be a HUGE *** night.  If you want to see some action
or if you want to be part of the action come take a swipe at 128 players.
(You know you have to be able to win at least one match out of 128 players)
Don't think you can do that either, well then just come match up with the
128 players' stake horses as they will be everywhere.

If you are an RSBer (active or lurker), please say hello at the tournament.
I am going to start an RSBer guestbook.  I will try to find one small enough
to carry in my pool case and would like any of you to sign it.  If you
gamble put a $ next to your name. :-)

Regards,
JoeyA

Joey
It is a great tournament to go play in or watch.
Just be careful, that is not a good area.  When
I went there was a couple people that got robbed and
a few cars got broken into.
I was on that side of town working once and heard on the news that
people were faking fneder benders in the street and then when people
came up to help them they would rob them.
Not a great place and I spent almost 6 months there off and on. I rarely
went
to The Rack.
I did find a hotel that the owner of the Platinum Plus rents out almost a
floor
for his traveling girls.  It made for a few interesting moments.
have fun

Do those girls at the Platinum Plus shoot pool?

Frank, thanks for the heads-up on the robberies.  Maybe I should bring
travelers checks.

They shoot a lot of stuff, but I don't think they count pool among
them.

And traveling shoes, for quick getaways.  A getaway car wouldn't hurt,

All I will admit to in regards to the PP girls is that know
about balls and sticks.

I would carry travelers checks.  Tough to gamble with but safer
in the long run.  About 10 years ago my buddy and me made a score there.
It was a nice score.  We had went there for 1 day/night because I had
a meeting there.  I drove straight away from the pool room and we went to
a different hotel than the one we already had a room at.  Luckily we had
just went by
and gotten the room but not put our stuff in there yet.  The reason was
while
winning a guy goes over to my buddy while he was getting a coke and asked
him about the hotel pool.  My buddy was confused and the guy said your at my
same hotel
right and named it.  My buddy says no were at the _________.  Later
I asked someone from there if the guy was a local and they said yes.  We had
about 12 grand between us when we left and I was not taking any chances.
Ever since that day we never leave anything in the room that we would not
mind leaving
if we think we are getting into good action.
you will have a great time Joey....enjoy it

Cool, see you Friday night.

Bring a real no playing one pocket player with you.  My stake horse I mean
my road partner only plays people who run a maximum of 3-4 balls at a time.
If his opponent makes five in a run, he pays for the game and quits them on
the spot.  If his opponent lays it down well enough he will play for many
dollars, I mean many hours even though he is old and cannot see like he once
could.

Great, then I'll play him and I don't even have to lay down.  He might want
to offer me weight :-)

Paul handles all of my light work.   He is more fun if you like repartee
while you play pool.  His game is frivolity and getting beat on.  Me, I play
mum pool unless I get lit up with a glass of wine or two or three or four,
well you get the idea.
JoeyA (promise to self:  now wine 'til you win the tournament).

Memphis, TN Super Bowl Tournament January 31 and Feb 1

JoeyA axed:
Are any RSBers going to this tournament? It has been talked about in our
area from many players for a long time. I have never gone but am
thinking seriously about making the trip.
The particulars are :
The Rack
Lamar Avenue
Memphis TN
Nine Ball
Bar Tables
Race to 7
NO GREEN FEE
NO QUARTERS
$25 entree fee.
9 foot tables available for ACTION and that is CAPITAL ACTION all the
way.
This tournament sells out EVERY YEAR. 128 spots are taken EVERY YEAR.
How can you not play for $25? You might get to play James Walden, Bobby
Pickle, Hennessey, Bullard, Townsend, Bullard or Parica and you might
beat one of them in the short race.
If you are an RSBer (active or lurker), please say hello at the
tournament.
Regards,
JoeyA

(*<~   Have any RSBers attended this tournament and do you have a
report on the tournament (particularly how Joey Aguzin is doing) ?
