Where to find info on starting up a league!

Post by Mike and Janice Onotsk » Sat, 01 Apr 2000 04:00:00

A few guys here in Waterloo Ontario and I are looking at forming a Christian
pool League and I would greatly appreciate help in where to track down info
on ranking players and all other facets of running a league (not a heavily
competitive one though).

Thanks in advance

Can't help with your question, but I have one of my own. What does the H.
stand for when I hear people say Jesus H. Christ, usually when they miscue.
<g>

I can't believe the influence Ken has had on me.

Hashimoto.

Of course, I say "Jesus H. Buddha on a popsicle stick" anyway.  I
figure if I'm going to blaspheme, I'm going to try to get as many
religions in one go as I can possibly manage and do it RIGHT.

Deafness never kept composers from hearing the music.
It only stopped them hearing the distractions.

I prefer "Jesus Jumpin' Christ" on a miscue.  I save "Jesus H. Christ" for a
bad position.

Ken.

Smorg guessed HUMBERTO.

Wrong.

Derek guessed Hashimoto.

Wrong.

Steve guessed Henry.

Very close. And I believe you. Regional variation is a good thing.

LePheaux guessed Holy-sheepshit-batman.

Wrong.

Ken took a left turn preferring to save his guess for another time.

Before I give the answer, which btw will be the whole truth so help me, let
me first apologize to Mike and Janice. Your beliefs are none of my business
and I'm a turd for making fun of them, but I just can't help myself. I do
wish you good luck in finding what you are looking for. (pool players)

Anyway, back at the ranch, the answer is Hairy. We've all seen the pictures.
Long hair and beard. His arms were always covered so the children wouldn't
be frightened. And his back, well we just won't go there. Need further
proof? How about the Hairy Krishna. That's right, they were so ridiculed
because of their beliefs that they went to India and pretended to be
something totally different.

Nonsense.  The H stands for "Montgomery".

I'm not sure what a "Christian" pool league is, but you might want to
check out the NPL handicapping system, and the free tournament
management software listed or linked below.  I haven't read through it
all, but ...

http://cgi.dnai.com/~orwell/cgi-bin/pool.pl?pChoice=home
http://x38.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=591859285
http://x38.deja.com/getdoc.xp?AN=528506924
http://www.playpool.com/

As you will see, this info should get you started at least.  I would
also spend a few hours searching "NPL", or "league" in deja, as this
does get discussed from time to time.

Regars,

Gideon
