Think of something yourself instead of criticising others!

I've noticed whenever I post I get people reply to me with smarmy
answers, suggesting I should think of something important to talk
about, and that my points aren't valid.  Not ALL the time, just
sometimes.  Will these people start to post their own subjects instaead
of criticising others all the time.  It's what really pisses me off
about this NG.
THANKS!
Danny
(Oh, and please stop doing that childish '$0.02' thing at the end of
your posts, it really is annoying)

Hey Danny, go away.  You are a fool if you think you can tell other people what
to post, and how they should post it.  If you like it here, stay.  If you don't,
go.  But expect to be flamed mercilessly if you continue to tell other people
what they should do.

Damn newbies.

Your complaint doesn't make sense.  Perhaps you should look up the word
"smarmy".  A smarmy post is not a critical one, it is the opposite.  Also, look
up "obsequious" (perhaps not with that spelling though?).

As the math jocks say, QED.  But you should lighten up a bit, Danny, and
just have fun.

You must be a quick study, Danny... five minutes around here and you know it
all.  Please stop doing everything.  It really is annoying.

Yeah I know I was a bit bored then and I thought of posting that.  The
thing is, it's right.  People are moer interested in criticising rather
than helping.  I've had a few really helpful responses, but most of the
time, people are out to make a fool of you in this group!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not actually trying to tell you what to post,
all I'm saying is that before some of you critiscise me for posting
'stupid topics' with 'no meaning then for gods sake post something
interesting yourself.
I will check back tommorow knowing everyone has had a go at me for what
I have just said/typed, guarenteed!
Thanks anyway for your thoughts!
Danny

This is a public newsgroup.  There is no censorship and no set of
enforceable rules.  Anyone can write whatever he/she pleases.  And still, we
carry on pretty well, considering this fact.  If you post here and your
email ID is available, people will tell you what they think about your topic
and your ancestry -- whether you invite them to or not.

I got bit a few times several years ago when I first waded into this ng.
After a while, if you hang aroung and mix it up, you will develop thicker
skin.   As Seinfeld says, "Who are these people?"  Consider the source.  If
it's someone you respect, be concerned about the opinion.  If it's just
claptrap from someone you don't know, ignore it or deal with it as you see
fit.

C'mon Danny,
when i first arrived here (have i arrived here yet?) i'm also sometimes
a bit annoyed by the attitude of some of the ppl here but then u cant stop
ppl from posting its their right.  anyway there are always some good eggs
and some bad ones and generally ppl here are very helpful here. So just
filter out the abuse and hnag in there and u might just learn more things
than u would have on the pool table.
Besides who could resists sideshows like the Arnot vs Mordt posts.
Anyway my first posts here elicited 20+ replies and many many flaming...:)

Regards
Raist C.

Hi Danny,
I just wanted to tell you that I agree with some of what you say.  This
newsgroup is similar to a pool hall in many ways.  You can make a few
friends here.  You can learn some things here.  You can even do a little
teaching here if your instruction can stand a bit of scrutiny.  RSB is
covered by people from all walks of like with personalities from ***holes
to some of the finest people you will ever meet anywhere.  Their intellect
runs the full gamut, from the town fool to academia's elite.  All are
welcome here.

There are some here who would rather criticize others than eat ice cream.
That is the price you pay for public scrutiny.  At least in a pool hall you
can choose who hears your conversation.  Here everyone listens/reads.  If
you want to learn, try to get along.  If you can't get along, get it on.
There are many who would enjoy a word tango with you.  FTR, I don't enjoy
sticking needles in people unless I get stuck.  I haven't gone to the
trouble of finding out how others are criticizing you, but stay around a
while and learn some of the *** social skills needed to relate.  They are
not much different than the ones you learn in your local pool hall.

There is PLENTY of good information available to you about pool in this
newsgroup.  RSB is the place for knowledge.  Just beware that if you desire
to fight with words, there are some world champions on this newsgroup.  I
myself, prefer the table to do my fighting.  See you at the table.

My $.03.................. ;-)

Chill, my man and enjoy.

Hee hee hee. Haa haa haa. This has got to be a setup.

Interesting stuff: You might do a search for "Applied Physics
for the Amateur Pool Player". It's worth a lot more than 2 cents,
but you can get it for free.
