What are the most balls mode on a 9-Ball break?

Post by Michael Maxi » Fri, 19 Sep 1997 04:00:00

The other day I saw a guy make 6 balls on a 9-Ball break.  Not only did
he make 6 balls, he left himself two pocket hangers.  Needles to say, a
F type player could have run out from there.  He didn't have to play any
shape.

Has anyone ever seen a break like that?  8-Ball or 9-Ball?

The best I've had personally is 5 balls...it happened a couple weeks
ago.  The four remaining balls were sitting pretty, but the cue ball
rolled into the jaws of the corner pocket, so I was corner hooked on
the 2.  I made the semi-masse shot and the rest is history.  Sure
makes the game easier when you only have to run 4 balls. :)

Steve Mizerak says in his book, The Complete Book of Pool, that he's
witnessed a guy make 7 balls on the break.  Unfortunately, the guy got a
bad roll and was behind the 9-ball!  This situation shows why it is
crucial to have the push-out rule in effect, wouldn't you say so?

The push out rule is for wimps. :)  Kicking at balls and being able to
still command
cue ball control is an art. Besides play a little 3 cushion and learn the
rails. Rolls are
part of the game and learning how to make a good situation out of a
seemingly bad
one is a much needed skill.

I have made 6 on a nine-ball break before, but the cue ball ended up
being sevely hooked.  Sonmetimes you just can't win for losing.  I have
seen severla players make 5 on a nine-ball break, but never have I seen
more that 7 made.

I made 6 balls on a nine ball rack once with a 5-9 combo into the side
pocket for my first shot.  That felt pretty good because we had just
doubled the game wager and I was down a little bit!!  <G>

It felt to me like a hole in one in golf.  Not impossible, but I doubt
I ever do it again.

I've made 4 on the break a couple of times, and saw somebody make 6
once.  It's quite a sight!

I broke in 6 once in 9-ball and had no shot. We stood around with our
jaws*** open for a while, though. Later, I asked Howard Vickery
(pro) if he had ever seen a 6 or better. He said he'd seen a 7.

I don't think I've ever seen more than 5 on the break and only a few
times.  playing a race to 5 with a fellow, however, I broke 5 nine balls
in a row. He never got to stroke his cue.

After practicing for hours on my break I suceeded in making 6 and almost got a
woody. I couldn't believe it. To make mattters even more improbable I made 4
straight 9 balls on the breaks while keeping track of how many times I would
make the 9 ball on a break out of 50 trys. Neither one has happened again.
Average for me is about 1-2 balls per break.

I made 6 balls on the break on an 8 foot table, but was hooked.  I have broke 5
in once and 4 balls several times.  I also broke 4 9balls in in a race to 7
(only 2 were consecutive) and broke in 3 more that night on the same table (9'
Gold Crown III)  Oh yeah, I'm one of those girls that should be in the kitchen!
