finally, after several months, i needed to replace my tip, so i tried
the free talisman tip i received. results are not good. one of the
layers at the bottom of the tip is coming apart. ive played about 50
games of 9 ball.
as much as i liked the tip, i will not be using these tips again. i
still have 2 mooris left and then i guess i'll try hercules after that.
i felt obligated to report this, since it was a stipulation for me
getting the free tips. anyone interested, i will gladly send the remaing
tips i have to the 1st person who responds with address, via email.

p.s.   united states only... sorry

                                                 thanks

Brian,  Thanx for joining in.  PLEASE quit using the caps lock key.  If
you're too lazy to use the shift key, then type it all in lower case.  OK?
Thanks

Hey Mike not for nothing but the Tips were free and the reason they were free
was so you could try them and report back any problems, and try them out. I
also received FREE tips and I had no such problem, I liked the tip I tried so
far. I am sure all the bugs are not worked out yet but it didn't cost you
anything so stop the whining. You may have a bad batch, maybe just that one is
bad, I received mine 4 months after a friend got his and I noticed a big
difference between the 2 so maybe they made some improvements. I'm not saying
you don't have the right to post whatever you want but IMO you over reacted due
to a bad experience that cost you nothing. When a person is nice enough to take
the time and expense to send you a new product I think you owe it to them to
aid in the development of said product. I am sure that if this problem was wide
spread it will be fixed before they hit the market (you know when you have to
pay for them). Again in my opinion if you had paid you have every right to
write them off forever.

You ought to give the Talismans another try. On the tests I didn't like
the med. tip but I really liked the ***e. I ordered 100 ***es and
they came last Sat. and since then I have put on about 20 so far and every
customer has loved them. I havn't gotten a bad one yet. Might just be luck,
mine good or yours bad.

jason biernacki was the 1st to respond. i'll be getting them out to
you some time this week jason.
jimbo, youre such an ass. it is my right to write them off whether i
paid for them or not. i simply reported my results to the group like i
was supposed to do. i'm already going to look like a schmo when i go
back to get another tip put on. i'm not gonna risk it happening again,
not to mention the time i waste driving out to the billiard shop.  i'm
more than happy to pass the other tips along to someone else. hope you
have better luck with them jason.

1. Check Deja for numerous reports of delamination problems with Talisman
tips on rsb.
2. Talisman's own feedback web page included several complaints of
delamination problems.
3. These same tips *are* on the market - the initial free testing was run in
conjunction with their open sale at Talisman's site.
4. Talisman invited open opinion by offering free tips and requesting
opinions, and more power to them for doing so. They did not offer the free
tips from the goodness of their hearts - customer feedback, good, bad or
even indifferent, is what companies worldwide thrive on.
5. If something's crap, we need to open our mouths and say so, or it stays
crap.
6. My hard Talisman tip whacks like a bastard on my break cue and I'm 100%
satisfied with it. The soft tip delaminated about 1mm from the ferrule after
20 minutes play and I made sure Talisman knew about it. I also have no
problems saying it in this newsgroup, as Talisman chose to advertise their
offer here initially.
7. I'm going to bed now.

Hmmm. He has a "NOSPAM" in his reply address.
He screams (caps).
He puts the web address in lower case.

I give it a 9.9 on the fishy meter.

I also ordered about 50 tips and have installed about 15 so far.  They
install with no problems and my customers love them.

I had a problem with the original free tips and one de laminated but the
other played so well I decided to give them another chance.

Glad I did.

My experience also.  The first medium I tried was simply too soft.  I've had
a Talisman hard in use for 2 mos. or so, and I love it.  Nice tip, holds
chalk, requires very little scuffing or re-shaping.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the feedback. You were one of the people that received the
first batch of tips and there were problems with delamination. These
have been fixed and instances of delamination in the second batch we
sent out were all but non-existent.

If any others have waited months to test our beta tips, please contact
me and I will send you a replacement to test. We know there were
problems with the first batch, not to mention damage done in transit
due to our packing. Posts on this now can be confusing.

Tony,

I tested some of the first batch and reported some of the same
problems described here.  If you'll send me another test tip or two,
I'll report the new results to be fair.  Since you've given me free
test tips before, I don't mind paying for these.

I will say that my test tips are performing excellent.  No problem
with delaminating after several months of use.  I have since ordered
more to have on hand.  I did find that I preferred the hard to the
medium.
thanks tony
