SRV Police Update!

It was recently reported to SRV that a man has been arrested in Michigan for
cursing. The man, (name withheld) was on a canoe trip with friends and had
become stuck on a sand bar. The relevance to this NG is that he was in fact
"thinking about his pool game the night before."  The District Attorney
prosecuting the case said. "It's my job to make sure my "children" don't
have to grow up in a place where cursing is ok." The arresting officer is
quoted as saying, "Duuh, I was sent down their, down to the river ya know,
to make sure not too much fun was going on, ya know?" Apparently this town
(name withheld to protect the one citizen left there with brains), has a law
that prohibits swearing in the presence of women and children. It was
reported that children about 1/4 mile downstream had heard the alleged
lawbreaking and the undercover speech policeman was hiding in the bushes
nearby. The women on the canoe trip were cursing louder and with more
"feeling" but were not charged. This law has been challenged before and was
upheld on appeal. The man faces 1 year in jail and a $1000 fine. It has also
been reported that all TV shows must be be "approved" prior to broadcast on
this town's airwaves. (This has been an FYI update by SRV International)
