Just wanted to share this little gem of a game that happened between Karen
Corr and Ian Costello this weekend at Salt City Billiards for the Joss Tour
This was a match on the winners side. Winner of this match will be in the
final 2 on the winners side and gets to play for the hotseat.
Ian was leading the entire match. I think the score was 5-2 or 6-2 at one
point. Anyways, he chose some tricky banks instead of safety play in
previous games and after a while the match was knotted up at 8-8 and on the
Ian was running out the final rack and was left with this position.
From the sidelines, it didn't even appear that the 5 would go, as it
appeared to be on the point. It did go however, and he left himself with
this next shot.
He came up a little short for position on the 6. Ian could not see enough
of the 6 ball to pocket it, so he elected to hit it full and stick the
cueball behind the nine. This was the result.
Wow, Ian must feel pretty good for executing that safety so perfectly
considering the hill-hill situation, and Karen must feel pretty crappy.
Anways this is what happened next:
She kicks 2 rails, makes the ball, and the cueball ends up at B for a testy
shot on the 7. She makes it and continues for the run out and the match.
She brought the house down with that shot.
