(*<~  As of this time & date I will no longer be extolling the virtues
of Arnot or his cues online. I feel that I am doing an injustice to him
and his work. My posts concerning him and/or his cues only opens the
door to naysayers. I write a sentence or a paragraph and someone else
writes a book. People that dislike me will say things about Arnot
because of their dislike or hatred of me and that isn't fair to him (or
his family). I shouldn't be discussing Arnot's business online,as it is
none of MY business. Everyone here knows how I feel about Arnot and MY
cues. It is pointless for me to subject him to the slings & arrows that
are a result of my good intentions. I will cease & desist discussions of
Arnot, his cues, his website and his business practices post haste.
I apologize publicly to Arnot for any and all grief and pain that I
have caused him these past three years. He's man enough to fight his own
battles and doesn't need me. If he chooses not to participate in RSB any
longer, that is his right and I respect his decision.
I choose not respond to anymore "what kind of cue do have/use" posts
or be taunted into any Arnot discusions.

               case CLOSED...... imo,

Smorg,
Even though I am not one of the neigh sayers (at least I don't think I
have). One of the problems that I have is when you post something about the
laminated shaft, as though you came across it from the internet, you act as
though you know nothing about it. I do not have a problem with Arnot or his
cues (I am sure they are damn fine cues even though he could not make a long
one for me). The only thing that I have a problem with is how it was
presented. My snake oil and price comment were merely based on how anyone
else would perceive a post about the same site had they not known who the
maker of the cue was. I know that custom cues are marked up because they are
just that... custom. Had you stated "Hey Arnot is selling a new laminated
shaft." you probably would not have got the flack that you did. If you want
to push Arnot's Cues, go right ahead. Hell I push MCC's cues, Granito cloth,
and (the one that I catch the most flack over) Hal's teaching methods. So
don't let the ***that people sling stop you from praising what you like.
And if it is the people that don't like you, you should have them in a kill
file anyway, right?

What's the problem with communicating bad or good critics of a cue
maker? (Hell, it could also have been a table manufacturer, a cloth
producer, etc.) Everybody has his own experiences, own feeling, and
own perception of a product. Sometimes it's negative, sometimes it's
positive. Some of us like Meucci (At least I did) some will like
schon. Some will love Mali, some other does the same for Simonis. Some
will like Brunswicks and some like SAM's. etc.. This is a discussion
group, which is meant to discuss (related) topics.

I still don't understand, why somebone get's furious (and sometimes
get personal) when somebody doesn't agree with the statement of the
other

Come on guys: This is a DISCUSSION GROUP!!! When I state that Sherm's
cues sucks, that's MY OPINION. (btw. I never have seen Sherm's cues
for real, so it's a fictional statement) Others CAN AND PROBABLY WILL
DISCUSS it with me, to change my mind about it, but if I don't cross
my mind, people should respect that. Why? Because it's MY OPINION. In
the same manner I would respect the others.

Personally I've met both Doug and John. (John before my usenet period,
and he probably wont remember me.) But as far I can remember they are
both reasonable and nice persons in real life.
That's why (IMO) it's a strange sight that they both "can't" take the
heat of a difference of opinions, while they subscribed a
DISCUSSION-GROUP in the first place........

        From a dictionary:

DISCUSSION, n.

1. In surgery, resolution; the dispersion of a tumor or any coagulated
matter.

2. Debate; disquisition; the agitation of a point or subject with a
view to elicit truth; the treating of a subject by argument, to clear
it of difficulties, and separate truth from falsehood.

And to start a discussion we need a?

OPINION, n. opin'yon. [L. opinio, from opinor, to thing, Gr., L.
suppono.]

1. The judgment which the mind forms of any proposition, statement,
theory or event, the truth or falsehood of which is supported by a
degree of evidence that renders it probably, but does not produce
absolute knowledge or certainty. It has been a received opinion that
all matter is comprised in four elements. This opinion is proved by
many discoveries to be false. From circumstances we form opinions
respecting future events.

Opinion is when the assent of the understanding is so far gained by
evidence of probability, that it rather inclines to one persuasion
than to another, yet not without a mixture of uncertainty or doubting.

2. The judgment or sentiments which the mind forms of persons or their
qualities. We speak of a good opinion, a favorable opinion, a bad
opinion, a private opinion, and public or general opinion, &c.

Friendship gives a man a peculiar right and claim to the good opinion
of his friend.

3. Settled judgment or persuasion; as religious opinions; political
opinion.

4. Favorable judgment; estimation.

(IMO) Some of you (Doug and John for example?????)  should just meet
up and get drunk.. My experiences (When having difference off opinions
at work once in a while) is that a few beers and some honest talk can
solve months of bickering in just a few hours...

That's all I have to say.... (For now)

Btw... I loved my Meucci!! .... All my highruns are shot with it..

Regards,
Mario <--- Shoots a Pechauer, and loves it even more.. but still
waiting for the record-breaking... *sigh*

Hmmm... As far as I know, I mentioned that I made a fictional
statement.

But... In advanced I apologize to Sherm. I just picked a random name.
I never meant to insult Sherm in any manner..

I agree with you there. If they allow that dumb spamming jackass to post on
here then ANYONE is free to voice their opinion and say what they want.
Hopefully, you don't mean Shane who actually WORKS for Predator as that
Predator guy in your post.
