DALE JARRETT --88-- UPS Taurus (Finished 39th) -- "This hasn't been a
very good place for us, but that's such a rare occurrence.  I still don't
have any idea what happened.  We may have broke a spring and then dropped
a valve or something like that.  It was just a case of something
happening in the engine department.  This hasn't been a very good place
for us, but we'll just have to try again next week."

RICKY CRAVEN --32-- Tide Taurus (Finished 38th)

"It was just a strange
deal for the Tide team.  A piece of debris went through the radiator.
This type of thing happens on days like this when you run from 20th to
10th in the first 15 laps and you think you've got a really good shot.
Actually, this group gives me a shot every week.  We'll be back at 'em.
I really appreciate everything they do for me."

TODD BODINE --26-- Discover Card Taurus (Finished 34th)

"We broke
again.  That's the third engine that we lost in as many races.  It's a
shame for this Discover Card crew.  They've been working so hard and
doing exactly what they have needed to do this whole entire time and
that's putting an excellent handling car underneath me.  We had trouble
during our second stop but we were just being patient.  The engine let go
without a warning.  It was another strange deal for us.  That's all I can
say."

JEFF BURTON --99-- Citgo Taurus (Finished 29th)

In the right
circumstances I thought we had a good chance today.  We were running the
12 down, we were running the 29 down and then we broke.  I'm real proud
of us.  We did a great job this weekend.  That's the best we've run on
this kind of race track in a long time and I'm real proud of that."

WHAT
HAPPENED WITH THE 14 AND 40 EARLIER IN THE RACE?  "I'll say this, I feel
absolutely awful about it.  I don't want anything to do with helping
determine who the champion is.  I know that people are gonna say that I'm
Mark's teammate and I meant to do that, but people know me better than
that.  I'm bigger than that.  He charged under the 14 and it looked like
he just had to check up and I didn't get checked up and I ran into him.
When you get run over from behind, it's the guy behind you who is at
fault so it's my fault."

MARK MARTIN --6-- Viagra Taurus (Finished 25th)

"I thought we were
gonna finish this bad, but run that bad.  But we ran real good on the
long runs, it was just pitiful to start.  We were looking at a real sweet
finish there, but we couldn't make it all the way.  It's not because we
abused any of our stuff.  We babied that thing all weekend.  It just made
up its mind that it wasn't gonna go that far and it didn't."

YOU WILL
RECUPERATE FROM THIS.  "Other people had trouble too.  Until the last
race, people are gonna have trouble.  Probably in the last race we're
gonna have trouble, but, certainly, in the last race people are gonna
have trouble."

YOU'RE PREPARED FOR A BATTLE TO THE END.  "We will, but I
don't know if that will be a battle for first or not.  But we will battle
to the finish."

YOU HAD A ROLLERCOASTER TYPE OF DAY GOING.  "We had a
fabulous long-run car.  It was almost as quick as the leader there that
whole last run.  He was barely catching us hardly at all, but the car
just wouldn't take off very well."

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAR?  "We broke
the engine.  I thought we were gonna finish that bad, but it's because we
were gonna run sorry.  But, actually, the car ran real well on the long
runs.  We were shaping up for a real nice top 10 there, but we couldn't
quite make it all the way."

KURT AND JEFF BOTH HAD PROBLEMS AS WELL.
ARE YOU CONSCIOUS OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT?  "I didn't think mine would
because I had such a high gear.  We turned under 9,000 (RPM) all day.  We
really babied our stuff."

RUSTY WALLACE --2-- Miller Lite Taurus (Finished 3rd)

"We had a good
run.  The car ran real good throughout the day.  It got real tight many,
many times throughout the day and right there at the end it was just way
too tight.  I couldn't do anything with the two leaders, but I was a
strong third-place car.  There's no doubt about that.  It was a good run
for us -- fourth last year, third this year, we're getting better."

WAS
THERE A SECOND GROOVE TODAY?  "Well, it did -- you could use it -- but it
was just faster down on the bottom.  The tires are just so doggone hard.
My personal opinion is that these tires are so hard, it's unreal.  You
can't get a good grip out there."

YOU BOUNCED BACK AND HAD A GOOD POINTS
DAY.  "Yeah, I had a great points day today.  That puts me right back in
the thick of this thing.  I'm probably really close right now.  We'll see
what happens."

WHAT DID YOU DO TO THE CAR?  "I was real focussed on
trying to get it handling well and it did a good job today.  It was just
too tight.  Last night, I would have never dreamed that I would have to
get the car this loose.  I did so many crazy things to it today to really
loosen it up and it took every bit of that.  The track just tightened up
that much."

RYAN NEWMAN --12-- ALLTEL Taurus (Finished 2nd)

"It was a good run,
another top five.  I'm happy to finish second, but I wish we could have
won.  We had a car that was plenty capable of doing it, as was Jeff's and
he got the victory."

AFTER THE RED FLAG DID YOU FEEL YOU HAD TO GET JEFF
RIGHT ON THE RESTART?  "That was gonna be my best shot, but the way those
Chevrolets restart it's hard to get the torque off the bottom end.  We
got great engine performance today out of our Penske engine, but Jeff
knew what he was doing on the restart to keep me from jumping him."

YOU
HAD A GOOD POINTS DAY.  "That's what we're here for.  We wish we would
have won, but we were the second-best points paying car out here today so
I guess that's what we're here for too."

MATT KENSETH --17-- DEWALT Power Tools Taurus (Finished 7th)

"It was
alright I guess.  It was not that great of a car, but we stayed at it all
day and had a top five car at the end.  Then they threw that red flag and
our car was really, really poor on restarts today for some reason.  I
couldn't get going after that red flag.  I got under Junior and he ran me
all the way down past the apron.  I could have stayed in it and finished
fifth and wrecked him, or I could have lifted and lose three spots, so I
lifted and lost three spots because of that deal at the end."

YOUR MOTOR
HELD TOGETHER, BUT THE OTHER ROUSH TEAMS DIDN'T.  "Yeah.  That was one of
those things where you run a certain package and run a certain RPM.  Some
of them maybe ran more than they should have in practice, I don't know.
We tried to baby it most of the weekend and save it for the race."

ELLIOTT SADLER --21-- Motorcraft Taurus (Finished 18th)

"We just put
ourselves in a hole to begin the race, got in a wreck.  The guys did a
great job of fixing it.  Got the car halfway decent, but we were messing
with such aero stuff, we got the car a little bit too loose for me to
drive on long runs.  But I'm proud of hard they fought and how they kept
working on the car.  It was just a bad day for us, but at least we got
some points, and we'll try to move on."

RICKY RUDD --28-- Havoline Taurus (Finished 20th)

"We just had a
terrible week.  I mean, the car just didn't perform but everybody pulled
together and worked together.  It looked like we were gonna finish 15th
and then, all of a sudden, they had that big wreck.  The guys did a great
job of patching it up and not quitting, so I'm real proud of that."
