"American open-wheel Champ Car racing" ?
I thought Cart was an International open-wheel Champ Car series.

Really though, no troll, I thought that is where it is being marketed, and
found this just slightly off, thats all.

Jerry

Oh, and welcome back Mr. Judd

Good news!

They shouldn't be taken lightly, despite the fact that they haven't been
around for a while, the MG LMP675 product performed well at LeMans.

C'mon Jerry, They're Brits.  They were calling it "Formula Indy" until Nigel
Mansell came along! :)

John Judd gets around.   There are a few Ferrari 333SP models (built by
Dallara) that now run his engines.   His engine plant in Japan was using the
facilities of Honda back in '88 when Williams went atmo.   A lot of his
engines are in Grand Am, most are hybrids of  his old V-10 F1 atmos.

Don't welcome him back, he's never left.

16 of the 20 races are in North America, that's very international :-)

Great news :-)

They're running well in Le Mans and touring cars, it's going to be
interesting to see how they fare over the water.

Some thoughts:

Chris Pook says the series needs and English driver and a German driver -
keep MG and Audi and/or Porsche happy ?

MG has a sports car programme. one of its drivers is a Mr M Blundell. Maybe
a few words were whispered in the correct ears ?

Good to see another manufacturer on board, 8 cars for MG, 8 for Cosworth, 8
for Toyota, that makes 24 already.

I hope they can pull some strings and get Johnny in one of those cars...

Every time I hear the words CART and "over the water" mentioned, I think of
Road America last year when there was that huge ***y puddle on the
straight!  :)

 What a mess up.

MG also has a rally program, maybe Gwyndaf Evans would set a few cats among
pigeons :)
Website plug time, I've got a few pictures from the opening BTCC round on my
website and they also feature another, as yet not mentioned in this thread,
car as well. http://www.jameshart.co.uk/motorsport/2002/brands1/brands1.htm

It's interesting considering they don't sell any cars in the U.S. I would
guess their technical input would be limited, much like it is on the LMP675
car. I'm guessing that what this is essentially is an engine sponsorship
that allows Judd to cover their overhead, and MG/Rover to do neat
advertising using CART.

I was just checking out both the MG and Rover sites,.. Man they have some
seriously nice looking cars,...  Plus I was reading on their website about
how MG is getting very serious about building and selling cars in China ...
Could the "MG/Rover GP of China" be far off?....

I was just reading on the MG wesbite about how big MG/Rover is going to be
in China very soon. They are going to be building MG cars there in
association with a big Chinese concern,... Pook has stated that China is
important, and the Zuhai (is that spelling correct?) siad they are planning
3 big races, one of them being a "Big American Open wheel Series...". I
thikn a race in China is probably very important to them... CART seems to be
getting really smart, really fast...

At first I thought the MG/Rover deal wasn't all taht big, but after reading
between the liens a bit, this could be very very good for CART ... And there
are more manufacturers to come,..

Finally its nice to see (for the most part) the off-track news is all so
positive lately.

The Beijing 400 in association with MG/X-Power, make it a double header with
Japan and it's a done deal.
