--ok....see....right here....
what is a "bid"?
why is a "bid" $300?
why is there a "bid" deadline?

i mean...a "bid" isn't an entry fee?
an entry fee is an entry fee.

i thought that a "bid" was an expression of interest in attending an
event.....similar to a 'nice try' on a defensive effort("nice bid")

---uhm....yes....but...."CCC" has never been to WUFF Camp.
"bid" has never been to WUFF Camp.
"bid deadline" has never been to WUFF Camp....

so...although your sentiment is appreciated....it doesn't apply here.

When teams apply for entrance into a tournament they are making a bid.
That bid (if accepted) will cost $300 (i'll agree that entry fee would
be a better way to say this, however). There is also a date and time
after which no more bids for entry into the tournament will be
accepted, hence bid deadline.

plenty of interest.
