Hydro-Prop continues safety initiative for Unlimited Hydroplanes.
Ellstrom Manufacturing sponsor Safety Boat.

(Lake Hamilton, Fla.) - In their continued efforts to improve the safety
of Unlimited Hydroplane racing, Hydro-Prop, Inc. announced today that
Sven and Erick Ellstrom of Ellstrom Manufacturing have sponsored a
rescue boat for the Budweiser Unlimited Hydroplane Series Presented
by Boat Shopper? magazine. The 21-foot Northwest Jet Signature Series
Rescue boat will sport the colors of Ellstrom Manufacturing and will
travel to each Hydros race this season.

"Sven and Erick Ellstrom have been actively involved in Unlimited
Hydroplane racing for numerous years," said Bart Garbrecht, CEO of
Hydro-Prop. "They both wanted to show their appreciation for the sport
and its participants by sponsoring this rescue boat. Their support of
Unlimited Hydroplanes has been outstanding over the years and this is
just another example of their commitment."

"Erick Ellstrom wanted to do something that would reflect his father's
life-long interest and support for Unlimited Hydroplane racing,"
continued Garbrecht. "After a strong second place finish last year with
the U-16 Miss Elam Plus, the Ellstrom's have already had an impact on
this season with this rescue boat. Safety has always been a concern of
Sven during his career with Hydros and it looks like that will continue
for many years with his sons' efforts."

"The 2002 season will be remembered as one of its greatest from a
competitive standpoint, but it also will be remembered as one of the
greatest from a safety standpoint," said Don Pierce, Director of Rescue
from Hydro-Prop. "Each year Hydro-Prop attempts to provide the safest
environment for its participants and adding key elements such as a
rescue boat is integral to that initiative. Hydro-Prop's commitment
to safety was further enhanced last year with the addition of new
equipment, new engines and two new personal watercrafts."

"Unlimited Hydroplane racing has been my father's passion for many
decades," said Erick Ellstrom. "We have always supported the series and
this was another way that we could get involved. Hydro-Prop has a proven
rescue system that has worked well in the past, but you can always
strive to make things better. As team owners, the safety of our drivers
is the most important aspect of racing. Even though we hope the rescue
boat is never used, if an accident does occur, we trust that our rescue
boat will prove a benefit to the driver and the series."

Hydro-Prop travels to each Hydros race with an assortment of safety
equipment. Besides the trucks that contain all the rescue tools,
Hydro-Prop brings a trailer with rescue boats and personal watercrafts.
The Hydro-Prop safety team includes professionally trained individuals
who travel to every race. In addition, Hydro-Prop also works directly
with local race resources including the Fire Department, Police
Department and EMS.
