Did anyone notice how stupid that one play looked in which gibson got
called for a foul and after the referal came back as "waved off"
gibson sprinted to the disc and it was somewhat of a frensy getting
play restarted. It was early in the first half and occured om the
camera side of the field........with that one head observer connelly.

An obvious process that the uoa incorporated from the get
go.........and one i've been suggesting for years........only i'm a
proponent of using a whistle to verbally signify disc-in/restart.

Come to think of it, i coulda swor that on a over-ruled travel call
connelly had to verbally restart play. yea, cant think of a more
obvious procedure for that aspect of game management. other than
letting the observers activly call or not call it.

---maybe...but what i did notice...is that without observer
restarts....everything looks damned goofy.
i mean.....no structure.

hell.........keep it up up/sa ultimate.

I wish the players hadn't been so down on the observer check-in when
the UPA experimented with it before. I know the observers were on
board for it and I supported it. As always, I'll continue to push for
improvements to the observer system that make a lot of sense. This is
very clearly one of them.

they sure werent down on it in uoa comp........so maybe the usau
observers just didnt do it right.......or it could have been that the
usau couldnt desipher their own data. either way, dont put it on the
players when its deaver etal that has the final say.

Active travels make perfect sense to me. Implementing
active travels on teams for the first time at the College
Championships using a standard that is going to create tons
of stoppages and an unwatchable game until the players
adjust does not make sense. I've been consistent on this.

Given a good standard for what gets called and ample notice
for players to adjust, I'm quite supportive of active
travels. And as I said, I'll continue to push for
improvements to the observer system that make a lot of
sense.

iwell if the upa would have gotten off their asses it wouldnt have
been people "first time". also, its a very simple transition AND one
that the majority of the 09 teams ACTUALLY WANTED. so dont go and try
to save these players from themselves. Also, for some of these teams
it wouldnt have been their first time thanks to mike g and the uoa.
then theres the notion that theres really no adjustment to it besides
the players BUTTONING THEIR LIPS when they thought an opponent
traveled. as for the rest of the players there is no adjustment at
all.......as they would simply react/respond to the verbal call of the
observer in the EXACT SAME WAY THEY DO WHEN A PLAYER CALLS IT. so
isnt this less about the players adjusting and more about you simply
being a conservative when it comes to progression.

but there isnt a standard now so whats the difference......other than
the suck ass standard that allows players to use that call in a
partial, bailout manner. so that is basically a pointless point. and

that make a lot of sense to WHO???????? SURELY NOT TO THE MAJORITY OF
THE TEAMS THAT WERE AT 09 NATIONALS. So, just as long as you
understand that you represent the minority here we are on the same
page.
