I use quite normal sports shoes and dismount my 10ft giraffe without any
problems. Maybe you should try bending your knees even more when coming down. I
don't think hurting yourself is a matter of the choice of shoes, but due to
your technique of dismounting. When dismounting an 8ft giraffe as mentioned in
your request you jump off a height of about 5 to 6ft (considered your feet).
That's not much. I don't think you would have any problems jumping off a wall
or anything of this height. It's nearby exactly the same height, acrobats jump
off, when standing on a partner's shoulder. So you should have a close look at
your dismounting technique, I'd suggest.
