Coker Carbon Fiber Rim Concerns

Coker Carbon Fiber Rim Concerns

Post by rhyslin » Fri, 09 Nov 2001 12:35:08

Not withstanding ill conceived curb vaulting, has anyone made contact
with the rim on a Coker in normal road riding? Pot holes, sharp
cornering, hopping at lights? While there are many technical concerns,
rim damage as a practicality may proclude the use of carbon.

On a some what related subject: Mr. Davies, how did you handle the seat
post and post clamp? Is a slit cut in the tube, like on a typical frame?
Is an aluminium tube nested inside the carbon? If not, does the seat
post need to be coated where it contacts the carbon to prevent galvanic
action? And last, have you had any trouble with the seat post clamp
crushing the carbon tubing?

Thanx in advance for the feed back.
